Formed in May 2023, the Loughborough Lions Reds U9s are an ambitious and now very established team competing in the Leicester and District Mutual League. The squad is built on strong foundations of teamwork, player development, dedication and enjoyment of the game, with a clear emphasis on progression in a positive and supportive environment.

The team is managed by Chris Ford, who proudly has his son Maxi within the squad. He is supported by assistant coach Jason Staples, whose son Ryker is also part of the team. Together, the coaching team lead a committed group of 10 players, focusing on technical development, confidence, and teamwork both on and off the pitch.

Despite being a relatively young team, the U9 Reds have already achieved impressive success. They are Loughborough Lions Cup champions and have progressed rapidly from Level 5 to Level 1 in just two seasons, demonstrating the squad’s dedication, resilience, and quality (not to mention the amazing coaching by two highly dediacated volunteers).

The team currently competes at Level 1 and is proudly supported by Elliott’s Electrics and Flowmondo, whose sponsorship is greatly appreciated and helps provide valuable support for kit and equipment, whilst enabling to keep costs down for famlies with kids in the team.

Training takes place every Tuesday from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, with structured, age-appropriate sessions delivered by qualified coaches. The team is currently looking to add attacking players and a centre midfielder to further strengthen the squad as they continue their success at Level 1.
